Go Paperless This Holiday Season – Text Receipts Are Now Available For All!

Ricochet consignment software - new features

The holiday season means nonstop sales, lines out the door, and overworked staff and store owners, which is why we are happy to announce that all Ricochet users can now text receipts to their customers! Stores will still have the option of printing or emailing receipts, but now they can offer their customers a more modern option.

Implementing the new feature is simple. Any customer or consignor account with a phone number included will automatically have the option to text a receipt at the end of the sale.

So how can your store benefit?

Go Paperless

Stores can now remove receipts from sales, offering their customers a paperless transaction. The sale will be tracked within the customer account, removing the need for a paper receipt for returns. This flexibility puts the control back in the hands of the store, allowing employees to look up the sale number within the customer’s sales history.

More Checkstands

Opening more check stands. Stores can offer a streamlined checkout process for anyone who wants a text receipt or cash-only sales in case they cannot access a second credit card terminal.

Build Loyalty

Stores can also use our rewards program to incentivize customers.

Available for all users, Ricochet’s rewards program is a great way to gather customer information without becoming intrusive. If you already have a customer’s email, a discount can be a great way to get some additional information and make it worth the customer’s while.

Incentivize

Stores could also create a sale discount for any customers looking to provide them their email or phone number. Stores can create coupon codes that automatically apply discounts to sales, making a streamlined process for your employees.

Best Practices

Store owners are right to be cautious about adopting this new feature during a busy season, but implementing a plan of action could help stores integrate it into their checkout routine.

  1. Test: Ring up a sale and attach an employee or friend to the sale. Remember that stores can always VOID sales to avoid interfering with their reporting. Ringing up a test sale can give store owners and employees a better understanding of the process.
  2. Create a new procedure: Walking through how employees enter information, even identifying the vocabulary they will use to ask the customer, will significantly streamline the practice.
  3. Setting up your rewards program or store discount: If you plan on incentivizing customers to provide their information, review our help section or tutorial videos to ensure you set everything up correctly.
  4. Promote: Utilize services like Photoshop or Canva to create promotional materials to inform customers before they get to the checkout stand.  You can promote this on social media or create in-store displays, taking some of the burden off the employees and keeping the customers well informed.
